Solemnly, I wept bitterly
When I saw how that the mighty fell
Gbas! Down to earth, all shattered
Her past leaders mistake she learnt not from
Buoyantly claded in the same old form
Thus she fell heavily without trace;
Vehement hardship creeps in
Her citizens suffers violence
Slaves they became on their land
Her well dried and her market place empty
Blood shed sprouted gradually
It is indeed survival of the fittest
She was been hurt by her past, I thought
Thus! The mighty came crumbling hard
Her stand she could have maintained
But her pride refuses to give in
The word of elders she ignored
The biblical ant she rejected
She walked the vain lane joyfully
Hoping all would be well with her
Oh!
Like samson she never listen
She never wake to face reality
A thief of time, procastination she does always
Her milk and honey annexed without profits
Her children dying without hope
Her future seems bleak, I know she's hurt
Thus came the handwriting on the wall
She was doom to perish the hand says.
Nigeria, Giant of Africa
Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction
He that regards reproof shall be honoured
He that walks with the wise shall be wise
But a companion of fools shall be destroyed
The soul of the sluggard desire and has not
But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat
The fear of the lord is the fountain of life
Consider her ways and be wise
Nigeria, Giant of Africa
When will you consider and learn from the ant?
When shall you rise from your fallen state?
When will you make your citizens proud?
