Breaking: Ooni begs Ilesa people to forgive Aregbesola

Aregbesola, a native of Ijesaland and current governor of Osun State had been building mega schools across the three Senatorial districts.

However, speaking during the commissioning of Ilesa Government High School yesterday, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi pleaded “I am appealing to the people of Ilesa who don’t like our governor not to be angry. Some people here are not happy with the governor. Please, be happy with him.”

Tammy Abraham Tipped To Gatecrash Nigeria's World Cup Squad

T
he international future of Tammy Abraham, whether he plays for Nigeria or England at senior level, is still up in the air, but the Chelsea wonderkid has been tipped to gatecrash the Super Eagles World Cup roster nonetheless.

The England U21 international looks a certainty to be on the plane to Russia if he pledges allegiance to the Super Eagles ahead of the Three Lions, and has been name-checked by the Nigerian Federation, with Amaju Pinnick visiting him in London last month.

''NFF vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi has said he expects some players who did not feature in the qualifying tournament for the 2018 World Cup to make the final cut to Russia,'' writes scorenigeria.com.

''Coach Gernot Rohr used a total of 37 players in the qualifiers, but the likes of Vincent Enyeama (Lille), Joel Obi (Torino), Henry Onyekuru (Anderlecht), Tammy Abraham (Swansea City), Denis Bonaventure (Club Brugge) and Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazzam’ (Austria Wien) were some of the payers who were not involved.''

If Abraham is included in Nigeria's World Cup roster, he'll follow in the footsteps of Chelsea teammate Victor Moses, who represented England youth teams before representing the three-time African champs at the World Cup.

The 20-year-old has shown promise in nine top-flight appearances for Swansea City, scoring four goals.

Liverpool '

L
iverpool were Kaned and should be caned after this. Harry Kane scored twice and bullied an appalling Liverpool defence as a wonderfully rampant Tottenham Hotspur surged to an impressive, emphatic victory that showed they are in this Premier League title race.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are already 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after just nine games and no top-flight side has conceded more away goals than them so far this season.
Spurs were winless in their previous nine league games against Liverpool, they have suffered the Wembley hoodoo this season, but all that was banished in front of the biggest-ever Premier League crowd of 80,827.
Close to the end Kane departed to a standing ovation, holding the back of his leg, with Pochettino checking he was okay. He was right to show concern, Kane is irreplaceable.
Liverpool were defensively disastrous, a shambles, and Dejan Lovren paid the price as he was hauled off after just over half an hour, an ignominious departure for the centre-half made even worse because it was not as if manager Jurgen Klopp – who has questions to answer - changed his system. Lovren just had to go.
Before that he had gifted Spurs two goals and, had Heung-Min Son been more fortunate, and more clinical, he could have had a first-half hat-trick. Instead he claimed one but not before Kane had struck. Less than four minutes had elapsed when Kieran Trippier chipped the ball forward, after combining with Christian Eriksen and Son from a throw-in, with Lovren losing Kane who ran between him and Joel Matip before lifting the ball past Simon Mignolet. The goalkeeper had compounded it by running rashly from goal, when there was cover, catching Kane, who could have gone down but steadied himself to shoot into the unguarded net. It was Kane’s first league goal at Wembley.
Then, horribly, Lovren blundered again as he completely mis-judged a long throw from Hugo Lloris allowing Kane to run free down the right with the striker sprinting on and crossing low for Son who superbly guided his shot past Mignolet.
It was a car-crash for Liverpool and they were caught out again with Son running onto Eriksen’s through ball, which arced between Lovren and Matip, for the Korean to thump a right-foot shot that struck the under-side of the cross-bar and bounced out.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino had changed his line-up and formation once more, with a 5-3-2 approach as Son played alongside Kane in attack, and it seemed they would threaten again when Kane did well to turn Emre Can and run from his own half. Liverpool players swarmed around him, Kane went down but the ball was legitimately turned over with Jordan Henderson angling it forward, deflecting off Dele Alli’s head and between Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier for Mohamed Salah to run on to and steer a low shot across Lloris.

OFF TARGET
ON TARGET
OFF TARGET
Suddenly Liverpool appeared to be back in it and pressing but Alli then slid a smart pass beyond Lovren for Son who, clear on goal, saw his shot blocked by Mignolet with an outstretched left leg. Klopp had seen enough. Off came Lovren, on went Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and he was pushed up on the left with Philippe Coutinho dropping into midfield, Joe Gomez inside to centre-half and Can back to right-back.
It was from there, though, on the stroke of half-time that Can brought down Alli, after being tricked by the midfielder, and Eriksen’s free-kick was headed out by Matip, as he back-pedalled, but only to the edge of his own where it was met by Alli. Can did not react and Alli volleyed sweetly past Mignolet.
For Liverpool, it got worse. Into the second-half and Mignolet flapped at a free-kick, punching it for no reason when there was no Spurs player close to him, delivering it straight to Vertonghen whose shot was cleared off the line by Roberto Firmino but only to Kane. And we all know what then happens. Another goal.
Liverpool appeared spent but Coutinho was only denied by Lloris with a brilliant one-handed save, at full-stretch, who pushing his left-foot shot onto the cross-bar and then recovered quickly to collect the rebound. Then Oxlade-Chamberlain won the ball down the right and pulled it back to Salah whose side-footed shot was kicked away by Lloris as he adjusted his feet quickly. The game played itself out and despite those saves Liverpool had long been beaten.
What a time to be a Spurs fan
That United v Spurs match next week really is so exciting (or at least it is until you remember that Mourinho will be managing one of the team) and the way the two sides are playing at the moment, Tottenham should have the confidence to go there and get a win.
Once again they were outstanding today, with the English trio of Kane, Winks and Alli all superb. Pochettino's back five were also excellent and largely restricted Liverpool to hopeful crosses that were meat and drink for Vertonghen et al.
For Liverpool, it was another defensive horror show, with the hapless Lovren hooked after a half-hour nightmare where he was culpable for both of Tottenham's opening two goals. Klopp can bristle all he likes at criticism of his team's defenders, but he desperately needs to sort it out quickly because they have just one win in six league matches and are three points off the top five.

Great Tension!!! Ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Blows Hot From Otta Farm, Vows To End Governor Fayose For Good

There are reports that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, and the Senator representing Ogun-East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, met a few days ago, to strategize on ways to stop the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, from installing a successor in the next Governorship election in the State.

However, three sources claimed that Buruji Kashamu was at Obasanjo’s Hill Top mansion in Abeokuta, Ogun State, four days ago, on the former President’s invitation.

Kashamu was accompanied to the meeting by two of his Associates, who were not allowed into the meeting with Obasanjo.

“We were shocked to the bone when we saw Prince Buruji Kashamu being ushered into Baba’s residence, because here is the same Kashamu that he (Obasanjo) accused of being a drug baron, and wanted in the US.

The source also claimed: “Baba said that he will not rest until he humiliated Fayose, who has been running his mouth like tap water.”

“It was later that we heard that his (Buruji) coming to see Baba, was to perfect how to use what they called the ‘Ondo Option’, to frustrate the chances of whoever Governor Fayose presents as the PDP candidate in the 2018 Governorship election”, one of the three sources said.

Another of the sources also disclosed that Obasanjo impressed it upon Kashamu to remain in the PDP, and be causing trouble in Ogun and Ekiti States, using frivolous court orders as done in the past.

“Baba is interested in Ekiti and Ogun States Governorship elections, and he wants Buruji Kashamu to help him play the spoiler role as usual.

You know in Baba’s political game, there is no morality, he can dine and wine with anyone just to achieve his aim. That I believe is the reason he is now dealing with the same Kashamu that he called a known habitual criminal, wanted abroad for a crime that must not be treated with reverence”, said the source.

5 lines that will keep a conversation going

So, um, what are you driving now?”

If someone asked me that at an event, I’d most likely turn on my heels and go find a wall to hit my head against. It’s not that it’s a dumb question necessarily, it’s just that it’s insanely dull and smacks of scraping the conversational barrel.

But we’ve all been there, right? Those moments when your head goes blank just as the last few words trickle out of the conversation, and you stand there in an awkward silence that makes you feel like a smudge on the social stage. You pile pressure on yourself to think of something smart, to tell an interesting story, or to reference something relevant, and you come up with a big fat zero.

So, in an effort to be helpful (it’s a new thing I’m trying), here are five lines to keep the  networking conversation going.

1. Tell Me More About…

This one’s gold, not only because it offers you a simple way to leverage something you already know about who you’re with or something he or she has already told you, but because it feels flattering to have someone ask you to go deeper into a topic.

Tell me more about how that works. Tell me more about your thinking there. You mentioned [insert project/challenge/idea]—tell me more about how you’re approaching that. This line shows you’re interested in more than pleasantries and demonstrates your curiosity in learning about others.

Plus, you can use it for just about everyone—whether or not you really know about what they do.

2. What’s the Best Part of…?

What’s the best part of your role? What’s your favorite part of what you do? What lights you up in your business?

This is a personal favorite, because it adds a real splash of color when you’re in a situation that could be dry and grey. Asking this question takes people to their sweet spot—the place where they feel things flowing and the place where they’re at their best. And who doesn’t like to go there?

3. How Did You Get Into…?

People love stories. People have stories. People love to tell their stories.

Asking someone how they got into their line of work, how they got interested in their subject area, or how they crafted their role will open up all kinds of stories and discussion points.

And even if you get the classic “I just sort of stumbled into it” response, you can then ask what area they’ve always wanted to work in. It’s a conversational gold mine.

4. What’s Your Biggest Challenge?

There isn’t a business on the planet that doesn’t have its challenges. New competitors, integrating digital, recruiting the best people, or any one of a gazillion other factors are challenges that business needs to roll with.

Asking about someone’s biggest challenge not only adds some serious meat to the conversational platter, but it might just help frame things or provide a fresh insight in the mind of the person you’re speaking to.

Keeping the conversation going and being helpful? Love it.

5. What’s Your Favorite Cheese?

You might think that I’ve lost it at this point.Cheese? Well, while this appeals to my flippant and often ridiculous sense of humor, throwing in a curve ball cuts through the expectation that everyone needs to be “professional,” often makes people laugh, and gives a shot of energy into proceedings.

A question like this might result in a storyabout a beautiful meal in Europe, it might turn into a debate about what the king of cheese is, or it might get into a conversation about a local farmers market.

You might be surprised; don’t disqualify the flippant as a conversation-starter.

The Golden Rule

As a final point, the golden rule of networking conversation starters isn’t to rack your brain for things to talk about or another bunch of details about a story you’ve already told. Nobody likes hanging out with that guy. You don’t need to be interesting (although chances are you already are), you just need to be interested.

BREAKING: Super Eagles Massacre Cameroon 4-0

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have recorded their third win in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers after defeating Cameroon 4-0.

A goal apiece from Odion Ighalo, Chelsea FC  winger, Victor Moses; skipper Mikel Obi and substitute Kelechi Iheanacho ensured  Nigeria grabbed the maximum three points at the Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo.

After a sluggish start, Ighalo puts Nigeria ahead after receiving a fine pass from  Mikel in the 28th minute. The China-based forward, however, got yellow-carded for taking off his jersey while celebrating.

Mikel made it 2-0 in the 42nd when he latched onto a Victor Moses corner.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Victor Moses combined with gangling winger Moses Simon before slotting home from inside the box.

Iheanacho, who came in for injured Ighalo, made it 4-0 when he nodded past goalkeeper Fabrice Ondo from Ogenyi Onasi assist in 77th minute.

With the victory, Nigeria top Group B with nine points, while Cameroon have just two points from three matches.

Why I Left School – Popular Nigerian Rapper Olamide Reveals

Popular Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Badoo, has revealed that he dropped out of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode due to his father’s inability to fund his tertiary education.

Olamide stated that contrary to speculations, he did not drop out of school because of poor academic performance, but because his father could not pay his school fees.

He disclosed this in his comment as a motivational speaker at the second edition of a Summer Camp organised by Ogun State Government for Secondary school students in the state.

Olamide told the students that despite being a dropout, he was focused and determined to achieve greatness and urged the students to remain focused and disciplined, if they are to achieve their ambition in life.

He also advised them to always put God first in whatever they are doing, adding: “I want to tell you that you must always put God first in everything you are doing. Be focused and there is nothing you cannot achieve, if you are discipline.”

The artiste, who is an indigene of the state, advised the students to imbibe the spirit of “I can and I will” and also believe in themselves, noting that achieving one’s ambition in life goes beyond talent and skills “but total concentration and discipline.”

He explained that the reason why he always infused Yoruba dialects in his songs was to promote Yoruba culture, saying: “I can never do without putting Yoruba lyrics in my songs, I belong here (Nigeria). It is a blessing to be a citizen of Nigeria.”

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dayo Adeneye, who addressed the students, assured that the state government would continue to give education the necessary attention to improve its standard.

He disclosed that the government invited Olamide to tell his success story to the students, “so that they can learn from it.”

Adeneye expressed the hope that Olamide’s speech would also help them to prepare for the future.

The pair have each been given their Chelsea squad numbers for the 2017/18 season.

Eden Hazard sends clear message to Chelsea

Eden Hazard has sent a clear message to Chelsea regarding his contract with the reigning Premier League Champions.

The Belgian international has insisted that he is “waiting” to sign a new contract at Chelsea and he has not been offered a new contract.

Hazard was signed from Lille in the summer of 2012 and ever since then, he has established himself as one of the finest attackers in the Premier League.

The attacker was instrumental for the Blues last season as he championed Chelsea to the second League title in three years under Antonio Conte’s debut season.

The 26-year-old has regularly been touted as a possible target for Real Madrid in recent years but the attacker appears to be fully committed at Chelsea.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday while on international duty with Belgium, Hazard said: “At the moment there’s nothing. I’m waiting.”

Hazard will be hoping to make his return from an ankle injury for Chelsea as soon as possible.

The Belgian playmaker has not featured for the west London club so far this season after undergoing surgery at the start of the summer.

Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 in Hazard’s absence on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Olori Wuraola Speaks On Failed Marriage, Infidelity And Infertility

There have been several speculations regarding why the nuptial of Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and his Olori Wuraola packed up.

However, very few people can indeed pinpoint the main issue with the marriage.

Speculations of infidelity and infertility have been speculated about Olori Wuraola  with some people even going as far as saying that she gave birth to a stillbirth.

In the puzzle of a marriage, and like most marriages, there were good times and bad times too.

Confirming the collapse of her marriage, she refuted all speculations of infidelity.

According to an official statement released on her official Instagram page on Wednesday morning, she is grateful for the time spent her while journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence and abuse with the United Nations.

A beauty, the world will remember Olori Wuraola, as the Queen of Ife who didn’t last two years.

Below is her official statement.
We have got to stop this culture of shaming and vilifying women with false stories of infidelity & nefarious behavior. The spreading of false information (through “sources” afraid to be identified) is the mark of cowards and a cover up for guilty parties to justify their horrific actions. There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility- on my end.
What I can confirm, is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love & exhale gratitude. My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence & abuse with the United Nations. No matter how much time you’ve invested, no matter the use of media to silence & manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help! We’ve seen this movie before. Women being dragged in the press & blamed for everything under the sun. This behavior is unacceptable. I urge those involved to be mindful of their actions for the eyes of our Almighty God are always watching.
The seeds of slander is a cancer that harvests to eat away the souls of the planter. The throne is sacred and the attempts to tarnish the name of a Queen, in defense or on behalf of a silent King makes all involved look terrible. Remain dignified in all you do. It’s not the end of the world, but the start of a new chapter and you must turn the page with grace. The world is watching. As I bid adieu to this chapter, my wish to you all is to step into your lives – boldly & fearlessly, the way God intended and live not just by words, but through example. The best chapter in our lives is the one we are writing now. Thank you for your love and support. With peace, love & light, -Her Highness, Zaynab Otiti Obanor.

Viral lady in ‘royal outfit’ is NOT new Ooni of Ife’s wife (More Photos)

Instagram user, Abishine went viral yesterday after this photo of her in what looks like royal outfit, sparked rumours that she is the new Ooni of Ife’s wife.

The truth, however, is that she is NOT the Ooni of Ife’s wife.

Abishine recently celebrated her birthday, had a photoshoot that included this Queen-inspired shot which she shared on her Instagram page. Unfortunately, someone picked it up and started a story that she may be the new Olori. This claim is not true!

Ooni of Ife, HRM Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi’s marriage to beautiful Wuraola Zaynab Otiti allegedly crashed less than two years after it was contracted in an elaborate ceremony.

Rumours have it that the marriage failed way back as March 2017, adding that Olori Wuraola has moved out of the palace and relocated to Lagos, and that a new queen has been picked and will be unveiled in September.

Palace authorities have debunked the news of a crack in the marriage,Olori Wuraola herself also released a statement denying the allegations and threatening to sue.

See more photos from the royal inspired shoot Abishine had to mark her birthday plus a video of her happily twerking below:

Latest deadline day reaction including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United as window closes

The transfer window is now officially closed!
After a summer of record-breaking deals, the fax machines can finally be unplugged for another few months.
The biggest deal to be announced on deadline was undoubtedly Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's switch from Arsenal to Liverpool.
It was also a day to remember for Swansea, who secured Renato Sanches before Wilfield Bony's return was confirmed.
For Alexis Sanchez, however, it was a disappointing evening as he could not land his move away from Arsenal, as Thomas Lemar could not be secured as his replacement.
Philippe Coutinho, Virgil van Dijk, Ross Barkley, Diego Costa and Riyad Mahrez all also appear to have finished the transfer window without completing transfers.

Welcome Drinks! Danny is 'delighted'
And you thought it was all over for the night!
Unsurprisingly for a new signing, Danny Drinkwater’s statement from his new home says that he’s “delighted to be a Chelsea player”.
Blues technical director Michael Emenalo said Drinkwater would prove “invaluable” as the champions look to turn their title defence around.

Llorente "delighted"
Fernando Llorente has been tweeting after completing his move to Tottenham.
Llorente was thought to have cost £12million.
“Delighted to be part of @SpursOfficial and grateful for the warm welcome from everyone,” he tweeted.
“It has been a great pleasure to play the last year with the Swans. You have been amazing, I’ve been very lucky to feel your support.”

Chelsea have signed Davide Zappacosta from
Torino in a £23m deal.
The Italy international will provide valuable cover for Antonio Conte at right wing-back after losing out to Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40m move.
Conte gave the 25-year-old his first international call-up ahead of Euro 2016, though he failed to make the final cut for the tournament.
Zappacosta's excellent crossing helped bring out Andre Belotti's aerial prowess, assisting him several times in his 26-goal season.
The deal could allow highly-rated Blues prospect Fikayo Tomori to leave on loan after his brief stint at Brighton last season.

Bony sends message to the fans
Wilfied Bony has left a message to fans of Swansea, Manchester City and Stoke.
The Ivorian striker has completed a move back to the south Wales coast in the final minutes of the transfer window.
“Thank you to the fans of Manchester City and Stoke City. Your support has helped me the last few years.
“Excited to be back home with Swansea!”

And that's it for the Epl top teams.

RAPE

Unglamorous act staged by the unscrupulous
Shunned by the men of dignity
Shameful than stealing it is,
Man inhumanity to man at its peak
A disgrace to human race
Death!
The penalty I wish for its perpetrators
Her pride you took devishly

Why does thou this?
Forcefully, you took her pride
Thrusting in vehemently with pity
She was in pain, yet you laughed mischievously
Oh!
Her world you have crumbled
Having ridiculously stole her valued treasure

The Students Union welfare finally speaks

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE WELFARE OFFICER,  GREAT IFE STUDENTS' UNION:

Greatest  IFE! Articulate IFE!!

It is an incontestable  fact that the prevalent tensed political  atmosphere on OAU soil today is not too palatable but even at that, a cogent fact that  cannot  be erased is that the welfare of generality of Great IFE students must not be compromised for anything less.

Essentially,  my sincere and warmest greetings to all Great Ife Students. However, it is paramount at this juncture to tender an unreserved apology to the generality of Great Ife Students for the the late release of this piece. I have taken it upon myself as the welfare officer to see to the welfare conditions of the generality of Great Ife Students as this is of utmost importance by visiting the appropriate quarters and soliciting for solutions to issues pertinent to the welfarism of the entirety of Great Ife Students. The issues I have been able to work on are:

ON THE ERADICATION OF BEDBUGS FROM CAMPUS
An ad-hoc committee for the eradication of bedbugs on OAU soil has been set up by the Vice-Chancellor of the University.  This Committee is a six-man committee consisting of: Dr A. A Olatunji from OAU Health Centre who is the Chairman, Dr Sosan from Crop Production and Protection,  another Dr from Zoology, the Welfare Officer of Great Ife Students, the  Chairperson of Akintola Hall, Miss Khadijah and a representative from the Registrar of the University who would serve as the secretary of the Committee. In lieu of this, a meeting was held yesterday, 21st June, 2017 and the following were the positions the union stated:
πŸ‘‰ the whole campus must be fumigated, including all halls of residence, offices of lecturers, lecture theatres and so on.
πŸ‘‰ there is no situation that would warrant total evacuation of students from the halls of residence due to the different academic loads of students.
πŸ‘‰ there would be sensitization of the whole process by the union for all students.
πŸ‘‰ for the fumigation of halls of residence, two students would be  presented from each floor to monitor the fumigation.
πŸ‘‰ the health centre would supervise the whole process.
The fumigation promises to be effective and I seek for the cooperation of Great Ife students to make it a reality.

ON PRICE LIST OF COMMODITIES ON CAMPUS
Due to the economic instability in the country leading to an almost daily change in the price of goods, there would be a periodic change of the price list of commodities served to all butteries on campus to prevent the exploitation of students. In lieu of this, the effectiveness of the price list is a collective responsibility as any irregularities noticed from the butteries owners should be reported to the Hall executives of such butteries and proper measures would be put in place to check that.
This is to notify the generality of Great Ife students that Awolowo Hall upper buttery has been shut down twice due to irregularities noticed and ETF Hall once. This won't have been possible without the help of Great Ife students who have been conscious and are contributing  their quota to bring sanity and prevent extortion on our campus.

GOODS ENTERING CAMPUS
The office of the welfare officer took it upon itself to visit places like; water factories and bakeries outside campus and canteens inside campus to check how goods consumed by students are manufactured  and the surroundings of the places,  so as to ensure that proper hygiene is being maintained for the safety of Great Ife Students.
The office is also trying its best possible to get bags of Sachet water to be sold to the butteries at the rate of #120 in contrast to #130 as sachet water is mostly consumed by students and its affordability and availability is key.

ON WATER ISSUE
The Union as a pressure body has been discharging its duties by consistently meeting with the school management on the issue of water. It has demanded for the total upgrade of the water system at OPA DAM as the students can no longer endure the use of 'chocolate water' as this is detrimental  to the general well being of the students.
The office of the welfare officer has started having talks with the Department of Works and Maintenance Services, OAU on how all damaged pipes and STOREX water tanks distributing water to Halls of residence would be repaired.

ON ILLUMINATION ON CAMPUS
The office of the welfare officer has demanded for the illumination of the streets of OAU campus especially that of the streets leading to the Halls of residence, as well as the corridors and bushy pathways.  This is to ensure that such places do not give room for criminals to carry out their evil activities there such as raping,  robbery e.t.c.
This illumination has already commenced in phases as the academic environment can give evidence to that.

ON THE SAFETY OF STUDENTS ON OAU ROADS
There is a common saying that 'Prevention is better than Cure'. On this note,  the office of the welfare director has met with the appropriate authorities in demanding for speed bumps on OAU roads especially that of T-Junctions and sharp corners. The office has also demanded that sign posts be erected to indicate certain road signs like; bumps ahead, slow down,  Zebra crossing e.t.c. There should also be repainting of Zebra crossing. All of these for the safety of the generality of Great Ife students which is of utmost importance.

ON HEALTH CENTRE SERVICES
Since assumption into office,  the office of the welfare officer has been on its toes to ensure the health centre functions at its peak. Some of the stands made known to the management are:
πŸ‘‰ there must be at least three doctors available during emergency hours in contrast to the two doctors in time past.
πŸ‘‰πŸ˜consultation periods should be extended from 4:00pm to 7:00pm to enable students that have classes till the evening time have  access to consultations on their health issues.
πŸ‘‰ students still undergoing registration at the health centre should have all the test carried out on them without exemptions of any.
πŸ‘‰ students with no files yet should be attended to on presentation of their clearance certificate.
πŸ‘‰ all protocols needed for referring students from OAU health centre to any hospital should be observed by the health centre to save students from unnecessary stress and monetary implications.
πŸ‘‰ the pharmacy should be adequately equipped for better health care services.

Sequel to the above, the welfare officer seeks the support and cooperation of the generality of Great Ife students to enable his office to function in its capacity to ensure laudable welfare conditions for Great Ife students. With that, all complaints in the Halls of residence should be reported to the Hall executives, all other complaints, suggestions and enquires should be made to the office of the welfare officer.

Viva Aluta!

Signed:

Ajiboye Adekanmi Ayowole(EFO)
Welfare Officer,
Great Ife Students Union, 16/17' Parliamentary year.

RONALDO CROWNED FIFA'S BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD

The Real Madrid superstar enjoyed a staggering 2016 and has now been awarded the title of the best player in the world, beating Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned the world’s best player at FIFA’s annual awards gala in Zurich.

The Real Madrid superstar enjoyed a fantastic 2016, and has now beaten his perennial rival Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to the prize.

"It's a great feeling, as I mentioned many times last year was a dream year, no doubt about that," the striker said at the ceremony shortly before receiving the prize.

"Real Madrid win the Champions League and the national team won the Euros for the first time in history. Unbelievable season. I'm so proud and happy.

"I have to say thank you to my team-mates of Real Madrid, and team-mates of Portugal and the coaches. It was an amazing year."

Ronaldo scored a total of 59 goals for both club and country throughout the 12 months, as his career reached new heights.

The Portugal international, despite suffering an injury in the final, guided his country to Euro 2016 glory, scoring three goals and cajoling his team-mates from the sidelines after being stretchered off.

Eder’s late goal ensured that Ronaldo lifted the trophy in France, with Griezmann – the player to outscore him in the tournament - on the losing side in the showpiece.

Ronaldo also scored the winning penalty in the Champions League final, as Real defeated Griezmann’s Atletico at San Siro in Milan, and was rewarded with a staggering new deal until 2021.

The 31-year-old’s incredible year – which also saw him named the world’s highest paid sports star – was capped in December, when he was awarded his fourth Ballon d’Or award.

While Messi, the man who has forever threatened to overshadow Ronaldo during an era of individual footballing dominance, scored a sensational 55 goals throughout 2016, he was topped by four goals by Ronaldo, though he did guide Barcelona to La Liga glory.

Ronaldo was recently linked with a mind-boggling move to China, with a £257 million bid mooted, but the former Manchester United star appears set to continue his battle for supremacy with Messi and Griezmann in La Liga.
