Stones hand in transfer request

John Stones has handed in a transfer request at Everton as
he looks to push through his move to Chelsea.
The Toffees have previously rejected three bids from the
Premier League champions for the England defender but the
21-year-old now appears to be forcing the issue.
Everton had previously insisted that Stones is not for sale,
but reports suggested that they would prepared to sell for
£40million.
Stones' decision to hand in a transfer request comes after
his manager Roberto Martinez told his player that trying to
force a move would be a waste of time, claiming it was too
late in the window to finalise any deal.
Asked if a transfer request would change Everton's stance
on the situation, the Spanish coach said: "No, no. When you
have a long-term contract those things doesn't change at
all.
